Q: What does a session entail?
A: During a 45-minute session inside the salt cave, clients can relax in a zero-gravity chair, use an upright chair or stretch out on a blanket on the salt floor. Once the session begins, the lights are brought down, music plays and starry lights twinkle above to lull you into a state of relaxation. Just kick back, breathe deeply and enjoy your journey.
The cave is filled with more than 8,000 pounds of beautiful pink salt that has been hand mined out of the Himalayan Mountains. It is designed to make you feel as though you have landed in a courtyard in Nepal, with images of Mt. Everest and building facades as though you were in another land. When people come out of the Cave, they are typically very at ease and move on to our Tea Room. This cozy atmosphere has heated salt foot detox domes that you rest your feet on while enjoying a cup of Nepalese tea. A trip to Himalayan Hideaway Salt Cave is an experience that takes you on a journey that allows you to have healing and relaxation that makes you feel as though you gone to another country, without ever leaving the city!
Q: What do I bring inside the salt cave?
A: Just yourself! Outside items are not permitted and electronics are not allowed inside the salt cave. (Not only do we want you to have an escape from the everyday distractions of life, but salt can be corrosive to cell phones, smart watches, etc, so we don’t want them to become damaged.) You may leave your belongings tucked in our cabinet, out in your car, or at home. And while you cannot bring water into the cave, we ask that you hydrate as much as possible before and after your session.
Q: What do I wear inside the salt cave?
A: Everyday clothing is fine for the cave, however we recommend you dress comfortably so you can unwind and soak in the experience. The only requirement is that each person removes their shoes, so you may go barefoot or wear socks.
Q: Is the temperature in the cave hot or cold?
A: Actually, neither. This cave is not a heated sauna environment and the temperature usually maintains a comfortable level of between 68 and 72 degrees. However, blankets are provided in case you tend to run cold or just feel like snuggling up while relaxing.
Q: How many people are in each session?
A: The salt cave allows up to 8 people at one time. Depending on when your appointment is, there may or may not be other people in that session. If you book a private full cave rental, you may have up to 13 people, but there are only a limited number of chairs.
Q: How do I make an appointment?
A: To make an appointment for a session, you can book online through the website or by calling (336) 422-6974. You’ll need to provide your name, phone number, email address and the number of people in your party.
Q: Do I need to make an appointment?
A: While an appointment is not required, we typically ask that if you know what day and time you’re looking to come in for a session, that you make an appointment to hold those spots. We do accept walk-ins if we are able to accommodate you.
Q: What happens if I’m late for my appointment?
A: Our sessions start at the top of each hour, so please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment time. If you are late and arrive after the session has started, we would be happy to reschedule your appointment. If you encounter an issue causing you to be just a couple of minutes late, please call us immediately and we will hold the door for you, if possible. However, once the session begins and the door is closed, we are not able to allow anyone to enter the cave.
Q: Is halotherapy safe for everyone?
A: Halotherapy is safe, but we understand that people can have very specific conditions. (Hydration is important for everyone, so please drink plenty of water before and after your session). It is not recommended for those who are on active chemotherapy, have tuberculosis or a fever. If you have a condition that you are concerned about, please discuss halotherapy with your doctor.
