What happens during an Infrared Sauna session?

Expect to sweat, but feel amazing afterward! Infrared saunas don’t heat the air around you the way traditional saunas do, but instead, the infrared panels warm your body, and the heat penetrates more deeply. As your heart rate goes up and your blood vessels dilate, there is an increase in blood flow to the skin, helping to improve circulation and collagen production.

How do I prepare for a Sauna session?
Since your body may perspire during a sauna session, you should be well hydrated beforehand. You can have water while you’re in the sauna, but drinking water beforehand gives your body a chance to get ready for the intense heat prior to your session. Avoid drinking alcohol immediately before the sauna since it can increase your risk of blood pressure changes, irregular heartbeat, and unexpected complications.
How long or often should I do a Sauna session?
If you are not experienced in sauna, it is recommended to start with the shorter 20-minute session and work up to the 30-minute option. Using a sauna is safe to do several times a week.
What can I bring inside the sauna?
Water, towels, reading material, or a friend! Saunas can be a social experience when you go with someone you enjoy chatting with during the session. Electronics are not recommended for longer exposure in the sauna, as the extreme temperatures can damage internal components, but you can have them directly outside of the glass door for easy access. Our sauna has Bluetooth connectivity, so you can play your own meditation, music, book, etc.
What do I wear inside the sauna?
The best way to experience the full benefits of an infrared sauna is to wear the least amount of clothing. However, no nudity is permitted at the Himalayan Hideaway Salt Cave. Think of comfort and breathability when dressing for the sauna so that you are able to sweat naturally and allow your body to cool. Clean, loose cotton clothing, shorts, and tank tops are acceptable. You may want to bring a change of clothes for after using the sauna.
What should I NOT wear in the sauna?
Avoid jewelry, make-up, lotions, and tight-fitting or dirty clothing.
How hot does the sauna get?
We typically heat it to approximately 132 degrees. Infrared saunas do not have to be as hot as traditional steam saunas in order to reap the benefits.
Do you have showers at the Himalayan Hideaway?

No, we do not have showers. We suggest you shower after getting home, or get rid of any sweat toxins by following up with a salt session.

How many people can the sauna accommodate?
The sauna can fit up to three associated guests.
Do I need to make an appointment?
Yes, the sauna needs adequate time to warm up.
